Dubai Port, Jebel Ali, Sets New Freight Forwarding Ro-Ro Record

Dubai Jebel Ali Port has set a new record of handling vehicles, with over 500,000 (half a million) passing through the container port in 2012.

Dubai’s Jebel Ali Port is the world’s biggest manmade harbour and the Middle East’s largest container port, and a key player in the freight forwarding world.

Ro-Ro (or roll on, roll off) is the method by which freight forwarders and shippers get vehicles into containers to be shipped across the globe.

This huge increase in importing and exporting cargo, specifically cars and vehicles, in recent years highlights the growth in Dubai, UAE, and the Middle East overall.

It has recently been announced that the Dubai port will be expanding: increasing the current size of one of the container terminals, and constructing a new container terminal to deal with the increased demand of imports and exports to and from Dubai, UAE.
