Shipping To & From South Korea

Mercator has strong links with strategically placed South Korean freight forwarding partners thanks to our founding membership of the global network MarcoPoloLine.  Our relationships with these offices allow Mercator to offer comprehensive shipping services for both import and export shipping with South Korea.

We can handle commercial imports and exports, covering most industries and all sizes of loads (single pallets, full container loads and out of gauge shipments).

Shipping from South Korea to the UK

Our import shipping services from South Korea to the UK include both sea and air freight.  There are frequent direct air freight departures from the main South Korea airports calling at London Heathrow.  Air freight is a good option if you are short on time but it is usually more expensive than sea freight.  If your shipment is particularly heavy or large it may not be economical to ship via air (as air freight rates are calculated by the cargo’s weight / space it takes up, whichever is greater).

Sea freight departures are weekly from Busan, Incheon and Pyeongtaek calling at Southampton and Felixstowe depending upon carriers and routes.  Transit time varies from 35 to 40+ days, depending upon routes.  Our sea freight solutions range from single pallets in shared containers (LCL) to multiple full container loads (FCL).

Thanks to our personal contacts in South Korea (other MarcoPoloLine network members), we can arrange for shipping from any point, whether just from port in Korea (FOB), or from your supplier’s door (EXW), all the way through to your door in the UK.

Once your shipment has arrived in the UK, our team will arrange the customs clearance, make any payment to HMRC for VAT/duty (if applicable) on your behalf and arrange to deliver the goods to your door.

Export Shipping to South Korea

When it comes to export shipping to South Korea, we can offer services based on any INCOTERM, from FOB (free on board) through to DDP (delivery duty paid).

In most cases our export shipping customers agree to arrange the UK export customs and sea freight to the port in South Korea (CIF – cost insurance and freight).  Under this term, we would arrange to collect the shipment, transit it to the departure port, carry out export customs and ship via sea to South Korea.  In terms of air freight, the INCOTERM may be DAT (delivery at terminal), i.e. delivery to the air cargo terminal.

We are also able to arrange deliveries to door in South Korea thanks to our partner agents in South Korea.  We have a long-standing relationship with this agent, who are also a member of the global network MarcoPoloLine.  The network operates via an invitation only system and has very strict conduct rules, which results in expulsion if not complied.  The result is a very strong and reliable network, with partners we know that we can trust, leaving your cargo in safe hands.
