Freight forwarder Mercator was recently appointed by a UK importer to assist them with their air freight from China to the UK. The UK customer purchased the goods from their supplier on CFR (cost and freight) incoterm, meaning their supplier in China handled the delivery to Shanghai Pudong International Airport, export customs in China, and air freight from China to the UK.
Once the shipment landed at Heathrow, the risk and responsibility of the cargo transferred to the UK importer. Our team stepped in and arranged the UK customs clearance, payment to HMRC for import VAT and duty, airline pick up and delivery to door.

Thanks to our founding membership of the global freight forwarder network MarcoPoloLine, we have long-standing connections with our partner agents based across China.
