Mercator’s export team recently arranged freight to Mexico from UK on behalf of a UK manufacturer. Our team arranged the shipment of a 40’ high cube container consisting of UK-manufactured engineering components from the manufacturer’s premises in the UK to Veracruz Port, Mexico, under CFR (cost and freight) incoterms.
Our client, a British engineering manufacturer, had secured a contract with a customer in Mexico and required a dependable solution for freight to Mexico from UK.
The shipment consisted of precision-engineered components produced in the UK and destined for an industrial facility in Mexico. Due to the volume of cargo and packaging requirements, a 40′ high cube container was selected, offering the additional internal height often required for engineering and industrial freight.
As the shipment was sold on CFR Veracruz terms, the UK exporter was responsible for arranging and paying for transport to Veracruz, while the importer in Mexico would be responsible for the import customs clearance, duties, taxes, and onward delivery locally.
The 40′ high cube container was delivered directly to the manufacturer’s facility for loading. The manufacturer’s team securely packed and prepared the goods for international transport, with particular attention paid to cargo protection and weight distribution within the container. For industrial cargo, proper stowage is critical. A well-loaded container helps minimise the risk of movement during road transport and ocean transit while ensuring compliance with shipping line requirements. Once loading was completed, the container was sealed and collected for transport to the UK port of departure, Southampton.
Customs in South America can be notoriously strict. Receiving go-ahead from destination in these circumstances is critical to circumvent any issues upon arrival in the destination country.

The shipment departed on schedule and arrived at Veracruz without issue. Thanks to careful planning, accurate documentation, and effective communication throughout the process, the movement was completed efficiently and in line with customer expectations.
